FAQs

What is a legacy letter?

A legacy letter is a deeply personal written message intended for a specific person — often created near the end of life, or in thoughtful preparation for it. It holds words of love, memory, truth, blessing, and presence in a form that can be returned to over time.

Who is this for?

This work is for individuals who feel the weight of words they do not want left unsaid.

Most often, I work with:

  • Parents writing to children

  • Spouses writing to partners

  • Individuals navigating serious illness

  • Those preparing intentionally for the future

If you are unsure whether this is right for you, you’re welcome to inquire.

How does the process begin?

Everything begins with the Begin Your Letter inquiry form.

Each submission is personally reviewed. If it feels aligned, I respond with next steps and we move into a guided intake and story-gathering process.

There is no automated scheduling. Every project is approached with care and discernment.

Do I need to be at the end of life to do this?

No.

While many clients are navigating serious illness, others simply feel a desire to put meaningful words into lasting form. There is no required season — only the sense that something important wants to be said.

What does the guided process involve?

After inquiry and alignment, you’ll complete a detailed intake form. From there, we gather the heart of your story through written reflection or guided conversation.

I then draft your letter and provide a version for review. One thoughtful revision round is included before final delivery.

How long does the process take?

Timelines vary depending on scope and urgency. Most projects move from acceptance to final draft within 2–4 weeks.

If time is sensitive, please indicate that in your inquiry.

Is this therapy?

No.

While this work can be meaningful and emotional, it is not counseling or clinical treatment. My role is to shape your words with clarity and care — not to provide psychological or therapeutic services.

What is included in the final delivery?

You will receive:

  • A professionally formatted digital PDF

  • A print-ready version

  • Optional read-aloud optimization upon request

Physical heirloom options may be added separately.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is shared after your initial inquiry, as each project varies slightly in scope. My aim is to keep this work accessible while honoring the time, craft, and care it requires.

What if I am not sure I am ready?

That’s completely understandable.

You’re welcome to inquire and simply share where you are. There is no obligation to move forward unless it feels right.

Can you write on behalf of someone who has already passed?

In certain circumstances, yes.

While most of my work focuses on helping individuals preserve their own voice while living, I also offer posthumous letter projects. These are created thoughtfully using preserved writings, recordings, documented stories, and close family interviews to reflect the character and spirit of the person being honored.

This work is approached with particular care and discernment. If you’re considering a posthumous project, please share more in your inquiry so we can determine whether it is the right fit.
